Pediatrics: Site Visit Summary

At my first site visit, I submitted two H&Ps, and presented the one posted here. I thought it was a great case to present because the diagnosis was surprising given the clinical presentation, and the outcome reinforced the importance of PO challenges in pediatric patients presenting with emesis. I received great feedback on that H&P. At the second site visit, I presented a case of a 5-month-old M with no PMHx born 34 weeks via vaginal delivery brought in by mother and father for having fever and mild cough x 5 days. For this case, we discussed that I did not include a UTI as a differential diagnosis, which should have definitely been on the differential. I think I missed it because I wasn’t thinking in an organized systems-based way, which is definitely something I need to continue practicing. The case also inspired my journal article, which I presented at the second site visit.
