Working with my preceptor on this rotation was a fantastic experience. In an outpatient clinic I was given the chance to sit in the clinician seat and work through every patient visit from chart review to discharge, and it was really great for learning. My preceptor talked with me through patient complaints, physical exam findings, treatments, writing notes, orders, and discharge summaries. I was able to perform physical exams with his guidance, and I left feeling competent and excited about pursuing this field as a PA. I was also really impressed with my preceptor’s bedside manner – it was nonjudgmental, empathetic, informative, and helpful for the patients. Additionally, the H&P that I posted here was a patient that we saw together and I feel that because of how we worked through her visit together, my H&P came out very well done.
